The family & I decided to getaway for the Thanksgiving holiday and spend it with some dear friends on Whidbey Island.  It was such a relaxing week at such a beautiful place.  The weather was clear and sunny, which made for some pretty ah-mazing pastel sunsets.  Late nights playing cards, good food and laughter — much needed for how busy we all have been.  Felt good to break away from the norm.

While there, Kelly wanted to get a few family shots done for Christmas presents and cards.  So we headed over to our favorite beach bluff to have a mini session.  Winters in Seattle are quite dark.  It is typically pitch black by 4:30/45, so once the sun goes down all the light is gone!  At our location, we had quite the extreme lighting situation and we were there at 3:30pm!  The bluff cast an early dark shadow on the beach, while the setting sun was casting off the water behind us like a huge reflector.  Given how many people were at the beach, we opted for water as a backdrop and it created a beautiful white backlit setting.

Throwing off our winter coats, it was C-O-L-D.  But we powered through and it was over before ya knew it.  Conor was such a ham in front of the camera, and couldn't contain his laughter once Kelly gave me moose ears!  It was such a great day, and trip!  As always, I look forward to our next visit — hopefully though when it is a lot warmer!  Brrrr!
