Anthony and Jocelyn are avid outdoor adventurers, constantly on the go and looking forward to seeing all the beauty this world has to offer. So when they booked me as a Wedding Photographer, the option to add-on a session after the wedding for Wedding Portraits in a place somewhere they were not able to adventure to on their wedding day, was absolutely perfect. Artist Point, located near Mount Baker in Washington State, ended up being the best location to fit their shared love of nature and adventure.
I adore shooting here… not only for the jagged ridges, glaciers, and high alpine terrain and 360-degree panoramic view of the iconic North Cascades, but also because the ever-changing PNW weather provides different shooting conditions whenever I am there — making each session a little unique and special.
One the day of our session in early September, we were pretty blessed. The whole week leading up to had been an absolute stormy and rainy mess. But heading up the mountain was exciting as the closer we got, the more the clouds began to disappear and the sun washed over everything in a warm glow. It was still rather windy, but I love a little wind to help bring some movement to the moment. There are so many great little spots along this hike to take portraits, as well as just sit and take in the surrounding beauty. It’s quite awe inspiring, feels like you are at the top of the world.
There is such a freeing feeling of having portraits done after a wedding, no worry of your wedding attire getting ruined or stress of the day running smoothly… just you, your partner, and the beauty around you to be yourselves, play, and fall further in love.
