This intimate and beautiful wedding spot at Ravenwoods Farm, tucked deep in the woods near Ravendale, Wa, is perfect for a small wedding. I had never been to this venue and I hope to have a wedding there soon — so many little spots to slip away too and have photos! And the ceremony location is soo dreamy, all those tall trees and long wooden cut benches for guests. Perfect!
I had a blast getting to know some new vendors, and catch up with a few dear friends in the industry as well. It was a full sunny day, which was honestly perfect for the vibe and setting. Days like this are so needed for photographers, and other vendors — it’s a great way for us to relax, hang together and catch up, all while doing something fun and creative.
Our bride wore an absolutely stunning boho floral wedding dress from Elite Dress Bridal, with hanging off the shoulder sleeves and cuffs adorned with flowers, and a long flowing cathedral length veil. And the florals for this shoot were absolutely amazing — it felt like a waterfall of roses everywhere, so many bright shades of pink and orange. There was also the most darling mobile bar, a vintage VW Bus, with specialty drinks. A client of mine for this next year has booked The Bustender and I cannot wait til their wedding! VW’s are close to my heart. Ari did an amazing job with her vision for the day, so many little details, and the tablescape was something outta a magazine.
Intimate weddings are so dear to me as they honestly allow couples to fully enjoy their wedding day… with a smaller guest list you have more time to truly celebrate and take in each moment of the day with no rushing around, and time to meet and hang with every guest! With smaller weddings I find there is so much more emphasis on laughter, enjoyment, and love, as the value is placed on having connection and intimate moments with those you love.
When shooting an intimate wedding vs. a full large one, the one big difference I notice is that my couples are way more relaxed. They also love taking photos together cuz they are not stressed out for time or needing to be somewhere else. And you can see it in the images, they truly love spending time with their guests and can do so without feeling overwhelmed, or having to spend time with people they really don’t know. Fully being able to look back and remember it as a day filled with more love, deep connections, and lots of laughter — where they can fully enjoy each moment.
If you are debating having a smaller wedding over a full one, there are a lot of things to consider but in the end, it all comes down to what you want for your wedding day. Express that from the get go, and it will start to sink in with those around you and lead to more understanding with what you want.
