When I originally booked Jasmine and Desirea’s wedding, it was pre-covid. And thru all the shutdowns, restricted re-openings, and rescheduling, they were able to settle on a new date for the end of the year. But with this postponement, it meant that they were about to celebrate their 10 year anniversary of being a couple! So, Desirea reached out and asked if we could set up an engagement shoot for their anniversary on the coast in a spot that was dear to them. And of course my answer was, “hell yes!”.
Whidbey Island is always such a fun place to visit, there is so much there yet it seems so secluded and vast. Between the farmlands and the coastal spots to take in the view, shooting here was a dream. With Jasmine’s newly dyed hair, it was like a movie… where the mermaid captures the heart of her love. And we were lucky the land was still so lush, given the dry summer we were having. It made the contrast between land and sea breathtaking.
Also to note, this was one of the windiest days and it was all the better to help tell the story of their day together. So many times couples get overly stressed out about wind or weather, and their photos not looking “perfect”. Honestly, what is perfect… it’s a ridiculous concept when you put it in charge of having everything under control. I feel like it always sets you up for failure. Rather than being stressed about the wind with Jasmine’s short dress and gorgeous hair flying everywhere… they both embraced it. And it totally made the session more carefree, fun, and you can see in the images below that they have no stress — only love.
10 years going strong and these two LGBTQ beauties had NO problem kissing each other, lol! We popped some champagne down on the beach and let me just say, that it was the most epic goofy champagne fail (that wasn’t really a fail) ever. Jasmine got so excited she just went for it and it left us all laughing hysterically. Desriea at least got a sip of champagne at the end!
