location : artist point, mount baker washington
session : engagement portraits
season : late fall
G+T flew in from Pennsylvania to have their engagement session while on a visit with friends in Seattle during early October. They absolutely love Seattle and spend quite a bit of time out here in the PNW. Being recently engaged and headed out this way, they were hoping to have a session in the mountains trying to capture that “big peak, classic alpine” feel. They mentioned Snoqualmie Pass area, but also said they are adventurous and down to drive for the perfect location. Even though I am from the Snoqualmie Valley and we have plenty of gorgeous spots, I immediately knew with the vibe they were looking for and that we should try for Artist Point. This area tends to close down in early/first of October due to the snow, so we kept it as a tentative plan with a backup location in mind just incase.
Just looking at their photos, you would never know that during the week of their session, we had the craziest stormy/monsoon weather. Not gonna lie, it had me stressing because the forecast was showing day after day of intense rain and wind, as well as snow in the mountains which could nix our plans of shooting at Artist Point all together. And with them flying in from Pennsylvania for only a few days availability, it’s not like we could just postpone for a day with better weather. Day of the session, no snow was forecasted and Artist Point was still open, despite all the rain. But by the grace of Mother Nature, as I pulled up to the trail entrance, there was a rare break in the weather and the sun came out in all her glory. Talk about mean to be!
Absolutely giddy in love, G+T are soo sweet and funny. We had to best time talking about their upcoming wedding back in PA, why they love Washington, as well as life in general. It was like meeting up with old friends and catching up on life while hiking the beautiful mountain. G mentioned they would need some help with posing, but man they made it so easy. All I had to do was get them close to each other and the laughter and sparks were flying. Queue the “epic mountain man and his beautiful wife-to-be” shots… as usual, I will let the photos speak for their love.
