location : oregon coast, canon beach
session : after wedding portraits
season : late fall
Quietly along the northern Oregon Coast, just a few miles south of Cannon Beach, the Pacific meets a stretch of shoreline that feels almost secretive. At low tide the beach opens up to reveal tide pools and sea caves, inviting the curious to explore and duck inside to listen to the ocean resonate. Above the beach, the coastal trees seem to tell their own story. Sitka spruces and shore pines bend, sculpted by decades of relentless ocean wind with their branches reaching permanently eastward, as if frozen mid-gust—like a living record of every storm that has ever rolled in off the water. The light here can change in an instant, which I kinda love as it provides a unique setting to each time I visit. In the late afternoon, when the sun catches the wet sand and the offshore rocks cast long shadows into the surf, it feels quite magical.
When you photograph a couple, who gets completely lost in their love during a session, you feel like all is right with the world. Meet D+S. The love they have just radiates between them, and when they laugh their voices dance together like two souls who are perfectly in tune. This session hits all the feels.
We hiked out to a cliff along the coast, to start with some beautiful images among the woods. The trees there are just breathtaking, it’s almost like you can feel their stories while they dance in the wind. It had just finished raining, so everything was rich with color giving a little moody element to the day. Once we made our descent to the shore, the sun decided to say a tiny hello, giving us a golden glow at the end of our shoot while playing in the surf. I love shooting along the coast, it truly fills my heart seeing couples feeling so free and playful. Take me back…
